UX concept for electric vehicle (EV) charging app
Layer 10 AB, Gothenburg, Sweden. 2021
My role: UX Researcher
In collaboration with a confidential client, I conducted an explorative study and conceptualization of an app for mapping out electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Sweden.
What I did there:
Gap analysis of EV innovation
Together with the client, I conducted exploratory user research and designed a high-fidelity prototype in Figma.
The user research included interviews, content mining and literature review, as well as competitor benchmark and analysis for similar existing solutions.
Designs: Concept for app, EV charging map service
Outcomes
The project was later put on hold by the client due to rapid changes and pivoting needs in the market.
Methods
User interviews, user research, content mining, Jobs-to-be-done analysis, UX writing and content design, stakeholder collaboration.
Tools
Figma for wireframing
Miro for collaboration
What I learned there
I was reminded of the immense value of even the smallest amount of user research. Doing 5-10 user interviews, with real people, about their actual experiences, needs and everyday lives, goes so much further than staring at your own screen, trying to “guesstimate”.
Content mining, i.e. searching in online forums, magazines, websites and other arenas where potential users discuss their real-life needs, questions, pains and delights with each other, was also very helpful in this project.
